The ruling means that Miss Hallet and co-defendant, Richard J. Parish, 28, also of Detroit, will go on trial here Jan. 7 on charges of firstdegree murder in the Feb.
11 slayngs of Miss Hallett's father, Robert W. Hallett, 49; Grace Hallett, 39, his second wife, and their daughter, Ann, 8. A third defendant in the case, Aaron Hale, 22, also of Detroit, earlier had been granted a separate trial but no date has been set. Public Defender William A Arrison, Miss Hallett's attorney, arguing in behalf of second trial at a hearing here last Friday, said he did not feel his client could receve a fair hearing if she had to face the court jointly with He cited the possibility of racial prejudice among jurors because Parish is black and Miss Hallett is white and also indcated she would plead duress as a defense and call Parish to the stand to back up her story.
